IHG has announced the signing of eight new Holiday Inn hotels in Germany.

The announcement comes as IHG reports three record years of signings, including 17 hotels in 2016.

The new hotels will feature innovations developed as part of the Holiday Inn brand family transformation. This includes the Open Lobby, in which guests can relax in a combined restaurant, bar and lounge area while Holiday Inn Express hotels will feature the next-generation room design featuring new technology to enhance guest service.

Commenting on the openings, vice president of development, Germany, Martin Bowen said:

“We have a tailored offer for the German market, and this has paid off. Several of these new hotels are all with long-standing MDA partners who have established relationships with IHG, and understand the returns both Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express deliver.”

Germany is the hotel group’s second biggest market in Europe with 69 hotels and 38 in the pipeline.

The Holiday Inn Munich – North will have 156 rooms, a gym, 11 meeting rooms and four smaller meeting spaces while the Holiday Inn Express Munich North (Ingolstaedter Strasse) will run as a dual-branded property, with 236 rooms and a shared restaurant, just a short drive from the Allianz Arena and BMW Museum.
