W Hotels (now part of Marriott International since the merger with Starwood), has announced plans for its first property in the Czech capital Prague.

Scheduled to open in 2020, the 154-room W Prague will be partially housed within the renovated Grand Europa Hotel on Wenceslas Square.

The art nouveau style building “will be combined with a modern new building to create a stunning blend of old world glamour and bold, contemporary design”.

Features will include a rooftop bar and outdoor terrace, the brand’s signature W Living Room lobby concept, 350 sqm of meeting and events space, an indoor pool, fitness centre, spa, and “several chic restaurants”.

W Prague is the latest in a raft of new properties recently announced for the brand, with others including W Melbourne, W Budapest and W Algarve.

The brand’s portfolio currently consists of 50 properties worldwide, with plans to reach 75 hotels by 2020.
