Star Alliance has opened a new lounge at Rio de Janeiro Galeao Tom Jobim International airport.
Located in Terminal 2 Departures, the 600 sqm facility is managed by airport lounge company Plaza Premium Group, which has recently opened two other lounges at the Rio airport.
Hong Kong based architects MSA handled its design using locally-sourced wood, stone and concrete features to reflect the country’s architectural heritage, and elements of greenery and local plant life introduced throughout.

Features include a fully serviced bar, a hot and cold buffet and live cooking stations where guests can request dishes from the menu. Toilets are located inside the lounge, alongside three en-suite showers, luggage lockers and a number of private work areas. It can hold up to 150 people.
The airport serves six Star Alliance carriers, including Avianca, Avianca Brazil, COPA, Lufthansa, TAP and United.
Star Alliance passengers travelling in business or first class can access the lounge, as well as those holding Star Alliance Gold status and Air Canada Maple Leaf Club and United Club members travelling in economy. First class passengers and Star Alliance Gold members can bring along one guest.
