Liverpool John Lennon airport has started work on a £4 million project to refurbish and upgrade the upper floor of its departures lounge.

Improvements include new seating, a reconfigured retail area, new washroom facilities, and large flight information screens.

The 2,000 sqm departures area is the first space that passengers enter after completing the security screening process, and is the latest section of the terminal to undergo improvement works over the last 18 months.

The work is expected to be completed in June 2017, ahead of the peak summer season.

Commenting on the project David Taylor, LJLA’s interim commercial manager said:

“We are looking to create a real ‘wow factor’ for passengers as we welcome them into the Departure Lounge, further enhancing the customer experience and building on the really positive passenger feedback following the completion of the first phase of terminal improvements earlier this year.

“We believe these latest improvements and additions to the lounge will continue to grow our reputation as the Faster, Easier, Friendlier Airport of choice for passengers as we look to create the Airport our region loves.”
