IHG has opened an Intercontinental property in the Dominican Republic.

The Intercontinental Real Santo Domingo is housed with a 21-storey building on Avenida Winston Churchill, home to many of the capital’s major businesses and shopping malls.

The 227-room hotel features an infinity pool overlooking the city, as well as a fitness centre, spa, two saunas, and two steam baths.

There are three restaurants and two bars including the formal Factory Steak and Lobster restaurant, and Nau Restaurant for live music, while for meetings there are eight rooms with a maximum capacity of 750 guests.

The hotel joins two other IHG properties in the Dominican Republic – the Crowne Plaza Santo Domingo and the Holiday Inn Santo Domingo.

Commenting on the opening Jason Moskal, Vice President, Lifestyle Brands, The Americas, IHG said:

“With its location in a key international gateway destination, the InterContinental Real Santo Domingo contributes to the strong growth of the InterContinental brand following the re-opening of the InterContinental New York Barclay.

“The brand has seen the most signings in the first half of this year since 2008 – and we are confident this hotel in one of the most popular global destinations will provide our guests with a luxurious, first-class experience in the Dominican Republic.”
