Aparthotels Adagio is to open its third UK property next month, and the first worldwide to feature the brand’s new-look design.

The 146-apartment Aparthotels Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile will open on December 19, and is located within the city’s £150 million New Waverley development.

The brand describes the new look as offering “a lighter, brighter and altogether more dynamic living space”, with a new concept for its public space where “guests can meet, share and collaborate”, and which takes inspiration from “the stunning architecture and nature that make up the famous Edinburgh landscape”.

Facilities include a mixture of studios (26-32 sqm) and one-bedroom apartments (36-54 sqm), featuring air conditioning, free wifi, LCD TVs, smartphone docking stations, kitchens with hob, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, kettle and coffee maker, crockery and kitchen utensils, and a lounge area with sofa “in some apartments”.

The property has been constructed behind an existing façade of two 1930s tenement buildings overlooking the Royal Mile, one of which is the C-listed Sailors Ark building, formerly an ex-serviceman’s hostel which helped feed the city’s homeless before and after the Second World War.

It overlooks a new public square which is also due to open in December, and will be the first significant public space to open in Edinburgh’s city centre for more than 50 years.

The Aparthotels Adagio brand is a joint venture between Accorhotels and the Pierre and Vacances Center Parcs Group.

Aparthotels Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile joins Aparthotel Adagio Birmingham City Centre which opened last year, and Aparthotel Adagio Liverpool City Centre which opened in 2013 (for a review of this property click here).

The brand has recently opened new properties in Paris, Frankfurt and Moscow, and is scheduled to add aparthotels in London, Brazil and Doha in 2017.
