The Lufthansa strike which has caused hundreds of cancellations today will now be extended into a second day.

the strike  by the pilot’s union “Vereinigung Cockpit” (VC) affected Lufthansa flights from Germany on all continental and intercontinental routes between 23 November 2016 00:01 and 23 November 23:29 German local time.

It has now been extended a further 24 hours until 24 November 2016 23:59 German local time.

The strike announcement concerns Lufthansa operated flights only. Flights operated by Germanwings, Eurowings, Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, SWISS and Brussels Airlines are not affected by the strike measures and will continue to operate normally.

In a statement the airline said

“Lufthansa sincerely apologizes to its passengers for the inconvenience caused by the strike of the pilots union “Vereinigung Cockpit” and will do everything possible to keep the impact as low as possible. A special flight schedule for 24 November 2016 has been enabled.
