Starwood’s Aloft brand (now part of Marriott International following the recent merger), has opened its fourth New York City property.

The 176-room Aloft Long Island City – Manhattan View  is the first by the brand in New York’s Queens borough, and joins existing properties in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Features include free wifi, Recharge fitness centre, grab and go food and beverage area Refuel, Wxyz bar, a rooftop terrace, outdoor courtyard, and 1,000 square feet of meeting space.

Commenting on the opening, Paige Francis, vice president, global brand management, Aloft Hotels said:

“Aloft is a great choice for Long Island City because it’s a young, up and coming neighbourhood near Manhattan and Brooklyn with a large entertainment connection and diverse restaurants.

“The hotel offers travellers a compelling blend of leading-edge design, a tech-forward mindset and a buzzing social scene. Aloft is a hit with today’s hyper-connected global traveller, now offering more than 100 dynamic destinations worldwide.”

The Aloft brand recently debuted in Saudi Arabia, and has announced its first property in the Australian city of Melbourne.
