Intercontinental Hotels Group is to open the largest Holiday Inn property in the UAE, located within the mixed use Dubai Festival City.

The 520-room Holiday Inn Dubai Festival City will join IHG’s existing Intercontinental Dubai Festival City and Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City within the development.

The hotel will connect directly to Dubai Festival City Mall, and will feature a rooftop grill, café and restaurant, health club, four meeting rooms, and a 200-capacity conference centre.

The property will be owned by Dubai-based Al-Futtaim, which has already partnered with IHG on four existing properties.

The partnership has also seen a new 5,000sqm arena recently added on the grounds of the Al Badia residential area next to the Intercontinental Dubai Festival City and Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City.

Commenting on the news Pascal Gauvin, chief operating officer, IMEA, for IHG said:

“This signing is pivotal to IHG’s growth plans in the region as there is growing demand for mid-market hotels in the UAE, especially in Dubai.

“With the Holiday Inn brand’s universal appeal and ability to consistently offer a reliable welcoming experience in over 70 countries around the world, it’s the perfect brand to meet this need.

“Moreover, we are excited about the launch of the Festival Arena by InterContinental Dubai Festival City, an impressive venue that can cater to a broad range of events in Dubai and will create new possibilities for unique events within the entertainment industry.”

There are currently 25 Holiday Inn properties operating across the Middle East, with a further five in the pipeline.
