The Minor Hotel Group is continuing its worldwide expansion with the opening of Anantara’s first resort in Oman, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort. The Group is targeting 230 properties by 2021 according to Chief Commercial Officer Michael Marshall, under the Group’s brands which include Anantara, Tivoli, Avani, Oaks and Per Aquum.
Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar is the highest resort in the Middle East some 2,000 metres above sea level two hours’ drive from Muscat.
Designed by French-Moroccan architect, Lotfi Sidirahal, from Atelier PoD Architecture, the resort is approached through a road winding up through the Al Hajar Mountains.
It was constructed using traditional building techniques and local building materials, including stone taken from the mountain, and has 115 rooms and villas overlooking either the canyon or tranquil gardens. For more details, see Anantara.com.

Also open in Oman is the Al Baleed Resort Salalah Resort, while Anantara has also added two properties in Sri Lanka – the Anantara Kalutara Resort and the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort.
The Group has also announced the opening of its first European property in Portugal, with the rebranding of the Tivoli Victoria as the Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort in April 2017. The 280-room property has views over the Arnold Palmer designed Oceânico golf course.
The Tivoli brand will soon be introduced to the Middle East, with the opening of two properties in Doha.
