British Airways has launched its popular First upgrade promotion, offering a free one-way upgrade to first class for customers booking a return Club World ticket.

The flights must be booked by December 11 for outbound travel by December 23 and return by December 30.

The offer is valid on an eligible published semi-flexible R, D or C class, or a fully flexible J class, Club World return ticket, on all routes where BA offers a First cabin, with the exception of Bermuda.

It is also available on American Airlines operated flights on eligible routes to the US when booked with a British Airways codeshare flight number.

Note that the offer is valid in conjunction with the carrier’s current triple Avios promotion, and BA has confirmed to Business Traveller that customers will receive the triple Avios in the cabin class travelled, so a customer booking a return Club World ticket and receiving a one-way First upgrade, will earn triple Avios based on Club World travel in one direction, and triple Avios based on First travel on the other leg.

This is also alluded to in point 18 of the terms and conditions for the offer, which says that “Eligible Participants who are also members of the BA Executive Club will be awarded Avios Points and Tier Points in accordance with points allottable for the cabin that they actually fly in”.

More information on the First upgrade promotion can be seen here, and details of the triple Avios offer can be seen here.
