Business Traveller China Awards 2019 results

The results of the 15th Business Traveller China awards were announced on Friday November 15 at a gala dinner held at New World Beijing Hotel. Around 250 guests from the tourism and hospitality industries attended this annual event.

This year, the readers of Business Traveller China again voted for the best in the travel and hospitality industry, including airlines, hotels and serviced apartments, airports and destinations. The results represent their genuine feedback and appreciation of the excellent services offered by the winners.

Singapore Airlines once again held on to its title of the Best Airline in the World and the Best Asian Airline serving China. Also, with its high quality cabin service, the Singaporean flag carrier also took home the Best Airline First Class and Best Airline Business Class awards. At the same time, Cathay Pacific continued to claim the prize for Best Frequent Flyer Programme with Marco Polo Club, whilst its sister airline Cathay Dragon went on to win the Best Airline Economy Class award.

This year, United Airlines picked up the award for the Best American Airline serving China, while China Southern Airlines won the prize for the Best Chinese Airline serving China. Meanwhile, the awards for Best European Airline and Best Middle Eastern Airline serving China went to Lufthansa and Qatar Airways again, respectively.

The results of the airport awards are exactly the same as those of last year, showing the first-class facilities and services offered by the winners. Seoul’s Incheon Airport was once again voted as the Best Airport Duty Free in the World. Hong Kong International Airport continued to be the Best Airport in China, while the Best Airport in the World was again taken by Singapore Changi Airport.

As for hotel awards, Grand Hyatt was again crowned as the Best Hotel Brand in the World, while Shangri-La held on to the award for the Best Hotel Brand in China.

We also see some new faces in the hotel categories: The newly opened Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing, Beijing picked up the Best Luxury Hotel in China, and The Sukhothai Shanghai was named the Best Design Hotel in China. What’s more, the Best New Business Hotel in China this year went to Cordis Shanghai, Hongqiao, and Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay was recognised as the Best Resort Hotel in China.

The Business Traveller Asia-Pacific and China Charity Auction 2019 has started. All proceeds will go to the Chi Heng Foundation, which helps thousands of children and youngsters affected by HIV and AIDS in rural China.
