Air China to launch Chengdu-Colombo route

Air China will begin flying from Chengdu to Colombo, Sri Lanka starting from February 10.

A 251-seat A330-200 will be deployed on the route consisting of two classes – 36 business class seats, arranged in a 2-2-2 setup, and 215 economy in a 2-4-2 configuration.

The service will depart Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 1830, arriving in Sri Lanka's Bandaranaike International Airport at 2150. The return service will take off at 2310 before landing in China at 0640 local time the following day.

China has become one of the biggest trading partners with Sri Lanka and business ties have been developing quickly between the cities, leading to more Chinese visitors travelling to the south Asian country. Connections between Chengdu and Sri Lanka have particularly increased since the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Chengdu, Sichuan was set up in 2009, facilitating work in trading, investment, education and tourism.
