Cathay Pacific signs codeshare agreement with LATAM Brazil

Cathay Pacific has signed a new codeshare agreement with the Brazilian subsidiary of fellow Oneworld carrier LATAM.

The deal sees LATAM Brazil placing its JJ code onto Cathay Pacific flights between New York JFK and Hong Kong, while Cathay will codeshare on the following LATAM services:

  • Sao Paulo – London Heathrow
  • Sao Paulo – Paris CDG
  • Rio de Janeiro – New York JFK
  • Sao Paulo – New York JFK

Codeshare ticket sales began on October 7, for flights departing from October 21.

Commenting on the news, Claudia Sender, CEO of LATAM Airlines Brasil said:

“We are pleased to go even further with this partnership, which strengthens our Oneworld alliance and complements the existing codeshare between Cathay and LATAM for flights in Chile and Peru.

“The agreement in Brazil will enable us to strengthen connectivity and network options in Asia for all our passengers.”

LATAM Airlines Group recently unveiled its new unified aircraft livery, to be rolled out across its LAN and TAM-liveried fleet.

LATAM opens South America’s largest airport lounge

LATAM Airlines Group has opened South America’s largest airport lounge at Santiago International airport.

The airport is home to LATAM carrier LAN Airlines, and the new lounge is located on the fourth and fifth floors of the airport, with direct access from the LAN and fellow LATAM member TAM’s premium check-in facilities.

The 23,000 square foot lounge can accommodate up to 460 passengers, and features a bar and dining area, shower facilities, a sleeping room, entertainment zone, business centre, individual power sockets at every seat, and free wifi throughout.

Decor takes inspiration from regions across South America, using natural materials including marble, onyx and leather, and there is a 750 square foot copper structure fixed to the stairs between the two floors of the lounge, created by Chilean designer Mathias Klotz.

The facility is open daily from 0300 to 0100, and is the fourth LATAM lounge to open in South America, following projects in Sao Paulo, Bueos Aires and Bogota.
