Emirates inks codeshare agreement with Brazilian airline — GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes.

Passengers flying Emirates can connect to a number of Brazilian destinations from Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, including Porte Alegre, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba and Brasilia. The agreement will also provide passengers a seamless experience through ticketing to check-in, boarding and baggage check during the journey.

The partnership will come into effect by early November. Members of Emirates Skywards and GOL’ Smiles loyalty programme will be able to earn and redeem miles on both the carriers.

“We’re pleased to enhance our partnership with GOL and believe our new codeshare will bring enhanced connectivity and a fully integrated loyalty programme within Brazil initially, and at a later stage, throughout South America and the Caribbean,” says Hubert Frach, senior vice president of commercial operations (West) at Emirates.

Emirates commenced operations to Brazil in 2007, beginning with Sao Paulo and expanding to Rio de Janeiro in 2012. Today, the Gulf-airline has daily services to both the cities.
