Qatar Airways has assigned its B787 aircraft to serve its second daily Hong Kong service, representing a significant product upgrade from the original A330-200.

The Gulf carrier first introduced the Dreamliner to Hong Kong back in April to operate its QR815/816 return service, and has now deployed the aircraft on flights QR817/818 as well.

Qatar Airways has outfitted its B787 with a two-class configuration, with 22 seats in business and 232 in economy.

While capacity has been slightly reduced, the Dreamliner offers fully-flat seats in business class arranged in a comfortable 1-2-1 layout, as opposed to the angle-flat seats in a tighter 2-2-2 configuration on the A330.

Flight times remain unchanged, with QR818 departing Doha at 0245 and arriving in Hong Kong at 1605. The return flight, QR817 departs Hong Kong at 1910 before touching back down in Doha at 2205.

“We look forward to welcoming Hong Kong passengers on board our Boeing 787 Dreamliners and going to even more places together,” said Chan Cheong Eu, Country Manager for Qatar Airways Great China South.

“Travellers can now enjoy the advanced technologies and distinctive features of this state-of-the-art aircraft”.
