Airbus has announced that it has over US$500 million worth of parts, manufactured in India, fitted in all its commercial aircraft manufactured today, as well as selected military aircraft.

Aircraft for which India manufactures parts are namely the A380, A350 XWB, A320 Family, A330, C295W, A400M, Eurofighter, Tiger and NH90.

Pierre de Bausset, President and MD, Airbus Group India says, ”If our proposals to produce the C295W military transporter in India together with Tata and military helicopters along with Mahindra materialise, we will help set up system integration and final assembly lines which will spawn an Indian defence supplier base that will be second to none globally.”

Airbus aims to procure parts worth US$2 billion by 2020 from its existing 45 Indian suppliers, and new ones if they pass the quality check. These are for both commercial and defence aircraft.

Klaus Richter, Chief Procurement Officer, Airbus Group and Airbus says, ”Indian suppliers are a cornerstone of our globalisation strategy. Many of the projects with our Indian partners have been very successful and we aim to further strengthen these relationships in future.”
