AA arrivals lounge at Heathrow closed from February 29, 2016

American Airlines’ arrivals lounge at London Heathrow (LHR) Terminal 3 will be temporarily closed from February 29, 2016. American Airlines Arrivals lounge Heathrow The closure is to allow a renovation to take place and the lounge will reopen “later this summer” according to a spokesperson. American Airlines Arrivals lounge Heathrow The new lounge facilities will include “…showers and dressing areas, food and beverage service and valet pressing service to help customers feel and look their best after a trans-Atlantic flight.” American Airlines Arrivals lounge Heathrow In the meantime, AA says that “eligible travellers [will] enjoy complimentary access to the British Airways Arrivals Lounge in Terminal 5",. This will require travellers to transfer from Terminal 3 to Terminal 5. The British Airways Arrivals Lounge is open daily from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. American Airlines Arrivals lounge Heathrow The renovation is part of a $3 billion investment by AA both on-board and on the ground according to Andrew Nocella, American’s Chief Marketing Officer. American Airlines Arrivals lounge Heathrow “We’re investing more than $3 billion in every aspect of the travel experience – whether that’s in our airports or in the cabins of the most modern fleet in the industry - because we want customers to choose American Airlines every time they fly,” said “Flagship Dining is something no other U.S. carrier has offered, and this separates us from the competition. Starting this spring, AA will “redefine” its Flagship Lounge locations at JFK, Los Angeles International and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD), “…with more expansive spaces, more modern furnishings and access for more premium customers”. In addition Flagship Lounges will debut at Dallas Fort Worth, Miami International (MIA) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). All Flagship Lounges will be larger, and provide more connectivity and more power outlets to recharge personal devices. The larger lounges will cater for all trans-Pacific, trans-Atlantic, deep South America and Airbus 321T transcontinental customers booked in First Class and Business Class beginning in 2017. AA is also adding Admiral Club lounges at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Orlando International Airport (MCO). Meanwhile all Admirals Club lounges will be renovated “with updated furnishings, dynamic lighting, improved access to power and a fresh, consistent design across its expansive network.” The first example of the new international and domestic lounges are now open in São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) Terminal A. JFK, Los Angeles International (LAX) and MIA will follow, with 15 further lounges scheduled for renovations over the next few years, with initial construction beginning this spring. Lastly AA is introducing a new Flagship Dining experience, with “a pre-flight meal with full tableside service and elegant dining at select gateway hubs”, including:
  • New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK)
  • Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • Miami International Airport (MIA)
The Flagship Dining experience will debut at JFK in early 2017 and will offer “complimentary, full-service tableside dining with seasonal menus. Fresh, locally-sourced ingredients will be curated by a New York-based Executive Chef.” In 2017, First Class customers on American’s three-class international and transcontinental flights will have exclusive access to Flagship Dining. aa.com
