New benefits for Qantas “Platinum One” tier

7 Oct 2014 by Clement Huang
Qantas Frequent Flyers who hold the top “Platinum One” tier will be pleased to know that they can now enjoy a range of new benefits. The elite status, introduced in November 2011, helps distinguish the Qantas Frequent Flyer program from other airline loyalty programs in Australia. The original benefits were based around providing additional services and incentivising the airline’s most loyal and frequent flyers. These included 24/7 support from a dedicated Platinum One team, early points upgrade processing, additional access to Classic Awards seats, complimentary exit row seating for extra legroom, Qantas epiQure membership and invitations to exclusive experiences including private concerts and backstage tours by world class performers. Effective immediately, the revision of the tier now allows members to receive additional perks, including:
  • An immediate “Platinum” membership upgrade for a spouse or de facto domestic partner. Benefits for the second highest tier include access to the Qantas International First Lounges and Domestic Business Lounges.
  • Waiving of any fare difference that might be payable to the airport during domestic flight changes when travelling on a flexible fare
  • Booking fee waivers for eligible bookings when done via telephone
  • Complimentary Qantas Golf Club Premium membership
  • Double points earnt with Qantas Restaurants
“These are our most frequent flyers, spending as much time in the air as they do on the ground. Feedback around the Platinum One tier has been that while the members themselves value the benefits and are always keen for more, they also value the opportunity to share the experiences with a partner. This is why we have decided to take it one step further by offering a highly desirable Platinum Qantas Frequent Flyer membership for their domestic partner,” said Lesley Grant, the chief executive of Qantas Loyalty. In addition, Platinum One members can also now receive a 75,000 Qantas Points bonus when they earn 5,000 Status Credits within a single membership year, and a further 100,000 Qantas Points when they hit 7,000 Status Credits. Do note that this applies when travelling with both Qantas and its low-cost offshoot, Jetstar. For more information, visit qantas.com.au Clement Huang
