Air India to deploy B787 on Mumbai–Singapore route

19 Jun 2014 by Clement Huang
Air India will introduce the Boeing 787-8 to its daily Mumbai–Chennai–Singapore service from October 25 onwards. The Dreamliner will replace the incumbent Airbus A330-200 on the route, and offer a two-class cabin layout with 18 seats in business (2-2-2) and 238 in economy (3-3-3). Business class passengers will appreciate the new seat offering available on the B787. Whilst the current product on the A330 only offers a 13-inch recline and 52-inch pitch, the Dreamliner’s business seat is a flatbed and has a more generous 74-inch pitch. Flight times will remain the same. Air India flight AI342 departs daily from Mumbai at 2125 and reaches Chennai at 2310. After a short layover, the aircraft will take off from Chennai at 0045 the following day before arriving in Singapore at 0720. The return flight AI343 leaves Singapore at 0820 and reaches Chennai at 0945. Afterwards, the flight will take off again at 1110 before touching down in Mumbai at 1300 the same day.
