MAS to expand daily Melbourne–KL service

26 Aug 2013 by Clement Huang
Malaysia Airlines has announced that in November it will be increasing the number of services between Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur (KL) from two to three a day. The new service will be operated by an A330 with a two-class configuration, with 36 angled lie-flat seats in business, and 247 seats in economy. It will depart Melbourne at 0855 and reach KL at 1415, while the return leg will leave KL at 1950 to arrive in Melbourne the following day at 0645. Previously, the double-daily route was serviced by an A330. In November however, MAS will instead use a B777-200 on these two services, alongside the additional A330 service. The 777 will feature 35 seats in business and 247 in economy. With the third daily service, the route will offer 34 additional business and 247 economy class seats. In total this will amount to an increase in seat capacity from 7,896 to 11844 per week. Melbourne accounts for 32 per cent of total travel between Australia and Malaysia, with more than 350,000 passengers annually. For more information, visit www.malaysiaairlines.com Clement Huang
