Emirates has signed a new £150 million deal with Arsenal FC, which will see the Gulf carrier continue to sponsor the team’s shirts until at least the end of the 2018/2019 season.
The airline has also extended its naming rights for the Emirates Stadium until 2028.
Emirates first teamed up with Arsenal in 2004 when it took the naming rights to the club’s new stadium.
The carrier has since struck a number of high profile sponsorship agreements in the UK, including the positioning of a model A380 aircraft on the Heathrow roundabout, naming rights for the Emirates Air Line cable car system across the Thames (see online news June 19), and becoming the official partner for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games (see online news November 8).
