Airbus has fitted the four Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines onto BA’s first A380 superjumbo, ahead of its delivery scheduled for July next year.
The engines were constructed at Roll-Royces’ plant in Derby and transported to the Toulouse headquarters of Airbus by road and ferry, before being fitted to aircraft MSN095.
Each engine weighs six tonnes, measures around ten feet in diameter, and produces around 30,000 horsepower.
BA is scheduled to take delivery of the first of its 12 superjumbos in July 2013.
