BA launches “Perfect Days” facebook app

British Airways is encouraging customers to post their suggestions for the perfect day in destinations including New York, Florida and San Francisco, via a new facebook app. The app allows both passengers and BA staff to post tips and suggested itineraries, and assign them to themes such as “shopping”, “dining” and “drinking”. Users can then “like” or comment on itineraries, and selected entries will be featured according to their popularity. This is the first version of the app, and digital marketing innovation manager Richard Bowden said he was looking forward to receiving feedback from customers. At present cities featured on the app include New York, London, the Caribbean, Madrid, Mumbai, Rio de Janeiro, Florida, Rome, Berlin, and San Francisco, with more to be added in the future. It’s not the first time BA has attempted to engage its customers through social media - back in 2008 it launched metrotwin.com, a user-generated site allowing travellers, local experts and bloggers to post recommendations for the best hotels, restaurants, bars and activities in London and New York.
