The Museum of Flight in Seattle is to bring back its “Style in the Aisle” exhibition this week (January 29), showcasing 50 years of cabin crew finery.
The museum’s extensive collection of cabin crew uniforms, which first went on show in 2008, date from the 1930s to the 1980s.
Organisers said the progression of uniforms from conservative to flamboyant and back again "mirrors the public image of the flight attendant’s role throughout its 77-year history."
Aviation enthusiasts can also see a "variety of artefacts" such as flight bags, accessories and memorabilia that "help tell the story of the flight attendant".
The collection features uniforms from US airlines only, including the psychedelic stylings of the now defunct Braniff International Airways (pictured below).
