American Airlines passengers can now use mobile boarding pass technology when travelling from European airports including Manchester, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Milan, Rome and Zurich.
AA introduced the service at selected US airports last year, and extended the technology to London Heathrow earlier this year (see online news June 30).
This latest announcement sees mobile boarding passes available to customers travelling from six new European airports, as well as New York’s JFK and San Juan airport in Puerto Rico.
AA passengers can opt to receive a 2-D barcode to their mobile phone, which can then be scanned at security and American Airlines gates. Those wishing to check in luggage can also scan the barcode at AA’s self-service machines at the airport. Passengers should note that at present those wishing to use the mobile boarding pass option can only list one person in their reservation.
