SriLankan flies London-Malé direct

15 Nov 2008
UK passengers onboard SriLankan Airlines flying to the Maldives will find that their journey has become more streamlined with the commencement of direct flights between London and Malé, the capital city of the island nation. This is the first service of its kind. Flights are served by the airline’s long-haul Airbus A340-300 and will take 11 hours. Previously, travellers had to stop over at Colombo before leaving for London and vice versa. SriLankan introduced the London-Malé service on October 26 and increased the frequency from two to four times a week, departing on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Kaushal Seneviratne, SriLankan’s regional manager UK, Europe and Americas, said: “The Maldives is one of the destinations of choice among holidaymakers in the UK and other European nations, and is a fast-growing market. SriLankan Airlines and Sri Lanka have traditionally had close ties with the Maldives, and we are happy to strengthen this relationship through our new Malé-London service.” www.srilankan.lk He Ruiming
