Pulitzer Amsterdam has unveiled the final phase of an extensive rsoration project, which 145 new rooms unveiled as well as a brand new entrance on the Prinsengracht canal side of the property.

Part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts LVX Collection, the 45-year old hotel now features 225 rooms spread across 25 Golden Age canal houses.

A brand new entrance has been added to the Prinsengracht canal side of the property, which the hotel says is the first new building since the city’s canals received UNESCO status.

The new space features a lobby with Persian rugs, antique furniture and collection of historic and contemporary artwork, as well as a flower shop and library with Pulitzer winning books.

The hotel’s inner gardens have been created by Jacu Strauss, formerly a senior designer at Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio, and feature café Pause at Pulitzer which spans areas of the garden and lobby.

Redesigned rooms offer free wifi, Le Labo amenities, vintage telephones, custom-made minibars with cocktail mixing facilities, and a bike repair kit.

Other facilities include a two-floor gym, Jansz restaurant and Pulitzer Bar, as well as nine meetings and events spaces.

Business Traveller reviewed the property back in 2006, when it was known as Hotel Pulitzer, and was part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection.

Preferred Hotels partners with Union Pay

Preferred Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Union Pay as part of its move to court the growing Chinese outbound market.

As part of the agreement, Union Pay cardholders that book through a dedicated microsite, unionpay.preferredhotels.cn/en, will receive a discount of up to 15 per cent off the Best Available Rate at 125 participating hotels.

To enjoy the offer, payment has to be made by Union Pay credit card and all stays have to be completed by December 31. Other terms and conditions apply.

As part of its ongoing expansion plans in China, Preferred Hotels has introduced a number of brand efforts over the past few years, including a website in simplified Chinese, social media campaigns on Sina Weibo and Wechat, and a partnership with Air China.
