Novotel Century Hong Kong unveils newly renovated rooms

Novotel Century Hong Kong hotel recently completed a renovation of all its 510 guestrooms as part of a plan to modernise the property, which opened its doors in the city a quarter of a century ago.

Situated in Wan Chai district on Hong Kong Island less than ten minutes from the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Novotel Century has been given features “depicting Hong Kong’s historical journey”. These include artistic walls and paintings, while rooms also now feature new, modern curtains, dress bed, lighting, carpets, along with complimentary wifi across all room categories.

“Novotel Century Hong Kong is widely recognised for its ideal location and high service standards,” said the property’s general manager, Adam Hipp. “The refurbishments will further enhance the overall guest experience.”

Other features of the newly renovated property include the hotel’s top-floor Executive Premier Lounge, available to guests staying on the executive floor.

Access to the lounge includes a two-hour complimentary meeting room rental with each Executive Premier Room booking. Daily breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails are also served at the lounge.

Novotel Suites opens in Hanoi

Mid-scale hotel brand Novotel has unveiled its debut Asia-Pacific Novotel Suites property in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi. The Novotel Suites brand offers suite-type units with an emphasis on shared space, and the new Novotel Suites Hanoi features a selection of 87 studios and 64 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

Rooms in the property range in size from 48 sqm to 104 sqm and feature a fully equipped kitchenette and walk-in wardrobe, with some also including their own terrace. Apartments also include a separate living room with IPTV (internet protocol television). Guests also have access to the brand’s Novotel Suites Live N Dream eco-friendly bedding, comprising a two-sided “Smart Pillow” and a dual-technology mattress.

Along with their own private kitchenettes, guests can make use of the all-day dining restaurant Food Exchange and the Gourmet tapas bar. Two additional bars are located on the roof and at the pool. A fitness centre, outdoor heated pool, private library lounge and kids’ playground are also open to guests.

Speaking about the opening, Patrick Basset, COO of AccorHotels Upper Southeast and Northeast Asia, said: “The Novotel Suites brand is designed as an attractive option for medium- and long-term stays, and is a perfect choice for business travellers and families on urban holidays.”

The hotel is situated in the growing urban district of Cu Giy, a key hub for office and industrial complexes, convention and exhibition centres and residential neighbourhoods. Meanwhile, Noi Bai International Airport is approximately a 25-minute drive away.

Accorhotels opens first Novotel property in Xian

Accorhotels has opened the first Novotel-branded property in Xian and Shaanxi Province.

The 275-room Novotel Xian SCPG is located next to the new Xian Incity shopping mall, and is a 30-minute drive from Xiangyang International Airport. Meanwhile, the city’s most popular attraction, the Qin Tomb Terracotta Warriors and Horses, is a 45-minute drive away.

Each guestroom features wifi connectivity, an iPod docking station and a pillow menu. Other standard in-room amenities include flat-screen television, work desk and mini bar.

The hotel is also home to a restaurant and bar. Food Exchange Buffet Restaurant offers a mix of international and local cuisine while Tang Tea Bar serves up an extensive menu of Chinese tea and drinks.

Other facilities include two private dining rooms, a fitness centre, and 365 sqm of meeting spaces that comprises of four multi-function rooms.

To commemorate the opening, Novotel Xian SCPG is offering a special room rate of RMB 568 (US$85) nett, which includes breakfast for two. The promotion lasts until August 31.

Novotel London St Pancras becomes UK’s first Pullman

Accor has rebranded the Novotel London St Pancras under its Pullman offering, the first UK property for the business-oriented brand since its relaunch in 2007.

The 312-room Pullman London St Pancras is currently undergoing a soft relaunch following refurbishment, which an official unveiling due for September.

Accor brought back its Pullman brand in 2007, as part of a move to reposition its Sofitel offering into the luxury segment and make space for a brand aimed principally at business travellers (see online news December 12, 2007).

The brand currently has around 30 properties across Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and South America, with recent openings including the Pullman Bangkok Hotel G, the Pullman Gurgaon Central Park, and the Pullman Marrakech Palmeraie Resort and Spa.

Accor is refurbishing 12 of its London properties this year, as well as opening six new hotels including the Ibis Budget London Whitechapel and the Ibis Styles London Croydon (see online news July 3), and the forthcoming Ibis London Shepherd’s Bush (see online news March 5), Ibis London Blackfriars, Novotel London Blackfriars and Mercure London Greenwich.

The group has also begun revamping and consolidating its economy offering under the Ibis branding (see online news June 22), and is also relaunching its loyalty scheme Le Club Accorhotels (see online news June 28).

Novotel Times Square to get €89 million revamp

The Novotel New York Times Square is to undergo a €89 million revamp over the next two years, following the sale of the property by Accor to a joint venture partnership between Chatres Lodging Group and Apollo Global Management.

The £160 million sale and management-back agreement will see Accor continue to manage the property, and the hotel will remain open during the renovation programme, which will take place during 2012 and 2013.

The 480-room hotel opened in 1984, and is located on the corner of 52nd Street and Broadway.
