Business Traveller rounds up new, renovated and upcoming hotels from brands including Waldorf Astoria, Nobu, Le Méridien, Dorsett and Accorhotels.
Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Los Angeles
Waldorf Astoria has opened a new property in Beverly Hills. This marks the first hotel to come to the area since 2008, and is the brand’s first build on the West Coast of North America. The 12-storey, 170-room hotel features a spa offering pure gold, caviar and lavender massage treatments. Award-winning chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten has been hired by the hotel to prepare farm-to-table cuisine in the hotel’s French-inspired lounge.
Corinthia Hotel, St Petersburg
The Corinthia has unveiled 120 new-look rooms as part of its on-going refurbishment project. The hotel is a mix of old and new, with wings dating from the 1980s. The rooms have been updated with new furnishings. A cool grey in the bedrooms replaces a palette of beige and ochre. The renovations are a continued effort to upgrade the 19th-century buildings that make up the hotel. With capacity for 1,000 across 17 meeting rooms, the hotel has some of the largest conference and meeting facilities in the Russian city.
Ritz-Carlton Astana, Kazakhstan
Ritz-Carlton has opened a 157-room hotel in the capital of Kazakhstan. Located in Talan Towers and owned by the Verny Capital Group, the property joins the business and shopping districts of the city’s first high-end, mix-use complex. Three restaurants showcase cuisine from around the world with a spa that offers a range of holistic treatments.
Nobu Hotel Shoreditch, London
Nobu Hospitality has opened a new hotel in the heart of Shoreditch, in east London. The on-site Nobu restaurant has a menu created by renowned chef Nobu Matsuhisa, which combines Tokyo-inspired cuisine and flavours from his travels. The lobby lounge and bar have private booths and Japanese screens, in addition to a fireplace, serving Nobu dishes and cocktails. This hotel will be the sixth Nobu hotel worldwide.
Le Méridien Visconti, Rome
Starwood Hotels and Resorts has relaunched the Le Méridien in Rome. The property is located near the Vatican. The renovated hotel marks the brand’s reintroduction to Italy with custom-designed rooms, suites, and redesigned public spaces decorated with curated artwork. The hotel’s conference centre is comprised of ten venues, the layouts of which are flexible.
Victory House London Leicester Square, MGallery by Sofitel
Accorhotels has opened a new London hotel, Victory House, a heritage site overlooking Leicester Square. Surrounded by shops, restaurants and theatres, the 86-room hotel will be part of the MGallery Collection by Sofitel. The upscale boutique hotel features a bistro restaurant and living room-style lobby.
Dorsett City London
Set to open late July, Dorsett City is the second London hotel from Dorsett Hotels and Resorts. The company also has plans for two more properties in London – Shepherds Bush and Alpha Square. The Dorsett City is within walking distance of the Tower of London. The property is a 13-storey building with 267 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a rooftop bar, a 24-hour gym and four meeting spaces.
The Murray Hong Kong, A Niccolo Hotel
Niccolo Hotels is expected to open the Murray later this year. The hotel will be a flagship property located between the central business district and across from Hong Kong Park. It will feature 336 suites and guest rooms. The Hong Kong-based management company, Marco Polo Hotels, operates the property. The hotel will have wellness facilities, a garden-level restaurant and a rooftop bar with panoramic views. The Murray joins its sister hotel in Chengdu as Niccolo Hotels’ second property in China.
