Grand Mercure will be opening its first hot spring resort in Sichuan in 2018 when it adds the existing Hongge Hotspring Resort, which opened in 2006, to its network.

The 167-room property, which is set to undergo a rebranding, currently includes seven villas, along with an all-day dining restaurant and a Chinese restaurant, and wellness facilities including an indoor and outdoor pool, a gym and its namesake hot spring centre.

“Following our successful partnership with Kunming Iron and Steel Group [the resort’s current manager] on the opening of the Sofitel Kunming, Accorhotels is excited to collaborate once again on the upcoming project to rebrand and manage the iconic Hongge Hotspring Resort,” said Michel Molliet, Accorhotels’ COO for Greater China.

“Rich in natural resources, Panzhihua is renowned as the ‘National Health City’ with its mild weather and ample sunshine. As the city’s first international hot spring resort, Grand Mercure Panzhihua is located in the region’s most scenic destination along Yangtze River in the Southern Sichuan Province.”

The resort is located about 30 minutes from the city centre and 45 minutes from Panzhihua Airport.
