Marriott International has opened its latest flagship property in Australia, Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands, in the city’s redeveloped Docklands area. The new 273-room property on Pearl River Road is part of the new 3,795 sqm Marina Tower residential and commercial project, about two kilometres west of the city’s central business district.

The new hotel’s location by the waterfront means the 273 rooms (including 16 studios) come with either city or river views and include the brand’s Four Comfort Beds and free wifi.

Also present at the hotel is Four Points’ pub, Best Brews and BBQ, which offers local craft beer and seasonal barbecue appetisers. This is complemented by the all-day dining restaurant, which features an à la carte menu in the evening.

On the leisure front, the property has a 25-metre outdoor heated swimming pool with a pool bar, along with a 24-hour fitness centre with a spa and steam room. Meanwhile, on the meetings and events side, the Docklands property has five function rooms able to accommodate up to 450 guests, while cocktail events can also be held outside on the outdoor decking area.

The opening of the Melbourne property is part of a wider expansion of the Four Points brand in Australasia. Last week, Marriott also announced that the Four Points by Sheraton brand would also be debuting in Auckland, with an opening date set for late 2017. The 255-room property will be located on Queen Street in the heart of the city’s main retail and dining strip.

“We are extremely excited to expand Marriott International’s presence in Asia-Pacific with the launch of the Four Points brand in New Zealand,” said Mike Fulkerson, vice president of brand and marketing, Asia-Pacific. “The Four Points brand is rapidly growing around the world, especially in the Pacific region.”

The Four Points brand’s Australasia presence currently comprises two hotels in Brisbane and Perth, along with two properties in Sydney currently under development.
