Kuala Lumpur has its first Mercure-brand hotel following the recent opening of the Mercure Kuala Lumpur Shaw Parade in the city’s Bukit Bintang retail district.

The new property features 213 guestrooms designed to cater to business and leisure travellers, with the hotel’s aesthetic aimed at showcasing the Malaysian capital’s distinct culture. This ranges from modern artworks around the property to traditionally inspired Peranakan motifs such as floor tiles and display pieces in the hotel’s all-day Chorak Restaurant.

“We are very excited with the launch of our first Mercure brand in Kuala Lumpur; with its distinct personality, Mercure Kuala Lumpur Shaw Parade offers leisure and business travellers unconventional and modern accommodation that is locally inspired,” said Garth Simmons, Accorhotels’s COO for Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.

In addition to Chorak, the hotel also has a lobby lounge and a rooftop pool bar, with a fitness centre adjacent. Three meeting and events spaces are also available with capacity for 60 people.

The hotel joins Mercure’s existing portfolio of more than 730 hotels in 56 countries. As part of the opening, the Mercure Kuala Lumpur Shaw Parade is also offering a special RM218 (US$49) nett with breakfast for two offer until April 30, 2017.
