JW Marriott Hotels and Resorts’ flagship property in Vietnam, the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, opened its doors recently marking what Marriott claims is the first international luxury hotel brand on Phu Quoc island.

Designed by Bangkok-based architect Bill Bensley – called “the king of exotic luxury resorts” in Time magazine’s The Design 100 list – the property features 243 rooms, suites, apartments and villas. Room sizes start at 54 square metres.

Meanwhile three restaurants are available on-site, ranging from a combination Vietnamese, Japanese and French beachside seafood grill to chemistry-themed cocktail bar. Cantonese restaurant Pink Pearl, however, is the hotel’s main restaurant and is located in a beachfront mansion. Corporate groups staying at the resort can also make use of the hotel’s 1,100 square metres of meeting space, including a 715-square-metre grand ballroom.

Leisure options also include retail along the Rue de Lamarck offering local crafts and artisanal boutiques. Cultural events and daily rituals are also scheduled at the Rue de Lamarck, whereas fitness and wellness enthusiasts can head to the outdoor pools, beach or Spa by JW for a bit of light R&R.
