Accorhotels has opened its 200th property in Greater China and its debut Fairmont-brand hotel in western China, the Fairmont Chengdu. The property is also the first new Fairmont hotel to open since Accor finalised its acquisition of FRHI Hotels and Resorts and its three luxury brands Fairmont, Raffles and Swisshotel in July last year.
Situated in Chengdu’s “Hi-tech Zone” at Tianfu Middle Avenue, the property is about 25 minutes by road from Shuangliu International Airport and close to the upcoming Tianfu International Airport.
“The strategic location of Fairmont in the fast-changing city of Chengdu symbolises an important growth strategy for the group’s luxury brand development in the China market,” said Michel Molliet, Accorhotels Greater China COO.
A total of 336 rooms and suites are offered at the property, while four restaurants with seven dining concepts make up the F&B offerings. These include the three-storey Cube Japanese restaurant and cocktail bar, Sichuan restaurant Chang Yi, and Manhattan, due to open on the top floors of the hotel in mid-2017 and set to be among the highest restaurants and bars in the city.
Leisure facilities comprise a fitness centre and indoor pool, and a Willow Stream Spa by Fairmont (due to open in March). Eleven meeting and function rooms, including a 730-sqm ballroom, comprise its MICE facilities.
Accor first entered Greater China three decades ago and its Fairmont Chengdu joins existing properties, the Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, the Fairmont Yangcheng Lake in Kunshan and the Fairmont in Beijing.
