Pullman Hotels and Resorts has opened the newly refurbished Pullman Shanghai Jing An following a year-long renovation and rebrand of the former Grand Mercure Shanghai Central property.

Situated in Shanghai’s Jing An business district, the hotel has views of the city from each of its 288 rooms and suites, which each feature floor-to-ceiling windows as well as a flat-screen TV, modern bathroom amenities and high-end bedding.

Offering both Chinese and international cuisine, the property has two restaurants each providing different environments. All-day dining space Venu has an open-kitchen concept and offers international fare, while its Shanghainese restaurant is precisely the opposite, favouring intimacy with its 19 private rooms.

Corporate groups can make use of the hotel’s two ballrooms and five meeting rooms, able to accommodate up to 350 guests. Individual business travellers can utilise private meeting spaces on the 27th floor executive club and lounge. Meanwhile leisure facilities comprise a gym, 20-metre lap pool, yoga studio and spa, which is set to open in 2017.

“Pullman Hotels & Resorts is a cosmopolitan brand that offers hyper-connected travellers an experience that combines both efficiency and wellness,” said Michel Molliet, AccorHotels Greater China chief operating officer. “The branding of Pullman Shanghai Jing An offers discerning travellers a warm sanctuary amidst the hustle and bustle of metropolitan Shanghai with its innovative design, business, fitness and restaurant facilities.”

As part of Pullman’s recently launched art initiative, the Pullman Artist Playground, the property has collaborated with Chinese artist Qin Ming to create a bespoke series of artworks for the hotel. The art programme aims to foster collaborations between Pullman’s global properties and artists.
