Parkroyal Hotels and Resorts has partnered with tech start-up Townske to launch a new app featuring more than 1,000 guides to cities in which the hotel group has a property that have been hand-picked by frequent travellers, locals and the hotels’ concierges. The app, Parkroyal Picks, is available from the group’s website and is available as a complimentary download on iOS and Android devices.
Parkroyal Picks, is the hotel group’s first smartphone app and provides useful tips and lesser-known sights and secrets, arming users with the knowledge needed to enjoy a truly local experience. Users can also receive suggestions for nearby places based on location.
“We are constantly looking for new ways to strengthen the connection between our guests and the local community by connecting them with authentic experiences,” said Kevin Croley, SVP Marketing for Pan Pacific Hotels Group. “We are delighted to partner with Townske in this first-mover collaboration between a technology start-up and hospitality group to launch an innovative product which taps into the sharing economy to offer truly local experiences at our premium hotels, resorts, and serviced suites.”
The app is intended to function much like a concierge aide and features guides ranging in topics from “Things to do when it gets dark in Singapore” and “Sydney’s perfect picnic spots”.
“The new generation of travellers are demanding community-driven, authentic experiences that appeal to their interests,” said Townske co-founder and CEO, Daniel Clark. “The old ways of offering concierge just don’t work for them. With digital disruption assured in the hotel industry, Parkroyal Hotels and Resorts is taking a forward-thinking approach in this partnership with Townske.
“Now Parkroyal can offer all the benefits of a full-service hotel and also provide their guests with hyper-local experiences that will help build guest loyalty and retention.”
