Mövenpick rolls out new website

25 Oct 2012
Guests who want to book a room at Mövenpick Hotel & Resorts can now get a better idea of the experience they will be getting through a new feature on the group’s redesigned website. Rolled out this week, the latest version of http://moevenpick-hotels.com/en/hotels/ carries on each of the properties’ landing pages a ratings’ score – consolidated by Trustyou.com – an online reputation management outfit – from various consumer reviews appearing on well-patronised travel websites such as Expedia, Travelocity, Hotels.com and Orbitz, among others. This is labeled the “TrustScore”. Clicking further, one will be led to specific reviews and where they appeared. Marion Schumacher, Mövenpick vice president for PR and Communication, told Business Traveller during the recent ITB Asia travel trade show in Singapore, “It’s all about acknowledging the customers and their need for information.” Besides the ratings box, key assets of the hotel or property will be highlighted, allowing a quick but substantial read for clients. The reimaged website, added Schumacher, places greater emphasis on customer engagement, incorporating popular social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and linking up with some widely followed bloggers through the hashtag #StayMovenpick. The platform is available in six languages including Chinese, Russian and Arabic. More innovations such as top reviews from the chain’s own guest satisfaction analysis and an improved smart phone website are due shortly. On the eve of its 40th anniversary, which takes place next year, the Zürich-based hospitality group is on track to achieve a portfolio that sees 100 hotels in operation by 2015, said Jean Gabriel Peres, Mövenpick president and chief executive officer. Currently, 76 properties are up and running and 30 are under development, with 50 per cent of those in Asia. To be released from the pipeline is Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu, now experiencing a total makeover and set to reopen with an Ibiza-style beach club in December, as well as Mövenpicks mostly in Thailand throughout 2013 – Mövenpick Suriwongse Hotel Chiang Mai, Mövenpick Samoeng Resort & Spa Chiang Mai, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jomtien Beach Pattaya and Mövenpick Resort & Spa Mae Nam Koh Samui. These are to be followed by a Mövenpick in the Phayathai district, Bangkok in 2015 and hotels in Bangladesh (Dhaka and Cox's Bazaar), China (Phoenix Island in Sanya, Chifeng in Inner Mongolia and Jiading in Shanghai), India (Dharamsala), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Terengganu), the Philippines (Makati City and Palawan), Sri Lanka (Colombo) and Vietnam (Quy Nhon).
