Macdonald Hotels invests £5 million in portfolio

13 Sep 2012 by BusinessTraveller
Macdonald Hotels and Resorts is to invest £5 million in its hotel, conference and meeting facilities over the coming months. The privately-owned hotel group is improving the bandwidth availability at its properties, to provide an "improved and speedier" internet connection across its portfolio of hotels. Its current wifi provision varies between hotels, with the Macdonald Windsor Hotel and Macdonald Burlington Hotel offering guests free access throughout the hotels, while the Macdonald Berystede Hotel and Spa in Ascot can offer conference organisers extra, dedicated bandwidth up to 100 Megabytes per second. Other developments include the £500,000 refurbishment of the ground floor of the Macdonald Tickled Trout Hotel, located in Preston. The refurbishment is due for completion later this month, and will feature a new reception, the installation of wifi internet access, a Costa Coffee lounge and the launch of the Macdonald Group’s signature grill the Scottish Steak Club restaurant. David Guile, chief executive of Macdonald Hotels and Resorts said: “On-going investment in our hotel portfolio, conference facilities, food, IT infrastructure and carbon saving initiatives, reflects a firm commitment to ensure guests can expect and receive the quality of hospitality experience expected of a market leading hotel group.” Macdonald Hotels and Resorts’ portfolio consists of 48 four and five-star properties across the UK, ranging from city hotels in Birmingham to rural retreats in the Scottish Highlands.
