Hyatt’s Andaz to debut in Shanghai

11 Feb 2011 by BusinessTraveller
Hyatt will add its first Andaz property in Asia this summer, with the opening of a 307-room hotel in the entertainment district of Xintiandi. The Andaz Shanghai will be housed within a 24-storey new-build property, and will feature 262 standard rooms (measuring 40sqm), and 45 suites ranging from82 to 193sqm. Other facilities will include a restaurant, brasserie, bar, lounge, spa, swimming pool and 1,300sqm of meeting space. The 30,000sqm Xintiandi development offers car-free shopping, eating and entertainment close to Shanghai’s Huai Hai Zhong Road. Much of the development has incorporated restored Shikumen houses, a traditional Chinese architectural style. There are currently five Andaz properties open worldwide: Andaz 5th Avenue and Andaz Wall Street in New York City, Andaz Liverpool Street in London, Andaz San Diego, and Andaz West Hollywood. Further hotels are under development in Amsterdam, Delhi, Papagayo (Costa Rica), Sanya (China), Providenciales (Turks and Caicos Islands), and Wailea-Makena (Hawaii). In Shanghai Hyatt has three established properties: Hyatt on the Bund, Grand Hyatt Shanghai, and Park Hyatt Shanghai. For more information visit hyatt.com. Report by Mark Caswell
