Starwood launches “Global Social Media Scavenger Hunt”

12 May 2010 by BusinessTraveller
Starwood Hotels has launched a ten-day promotion encouraging SPG loyalty club members to interact with its Facebook and Twitter pages, by searching for clues to free weekend stays across the globe. The group is giving away 200 Free Weekend Nights to a total of 100 winners over a period of 10 business days, which can then be used at over 920 hotels within the Starwood portfolio. Members must either “like” the Starwood Prefered Guest page on Facebook, or “follow” the scheme’s Twitter page at twitter.com/SPGInsider, and then look out for clues that will lead them to a different hotel somewhere in the world each day. They must then turn up at the property, and approach the front desk, with the first ten members to do so receiving two free weekend nights. The online scavenger hunt is part of Starwood’s Free Weekends promotion, which is offering a free weekend night (redeemable at any category 1-6 hotel until December 19, 2010) for every three stays at SPG properties before July 31. There is no limit to the number of free nights which can be claimed, and multiple free nights can be combined into one stay. Members must register for the promotion at spg.com/freeweekends before June 30. For more information visit starwoodhotels.com, spg.com. Report by Mark Caswell
