Tech21's range of accessories are designed to protect your smartphone or tablet from knocks and drops.
They come with the company's trademarked Impactology – "intelligent impact protection" featuring the patented technology D30, which Tech21 says will absorb the impact if you drop your device.
I tried out the Impact Snap Case with Cover for iPhone5/5S in black – it also comes in purple, blue and white. The hard shell polycarbonate case clips easily to the back of your device and the leather flip cover protects the screen.
The case is smart, slim-fitting and easy to handle – I've never used a case with a cover before but I don’t find it cumbersome flipping it open to access the phone or answer calls, and it doesn't add bulk.
It allows full access to the ports and function buttons at the top and bottom of the phone, and there is a cutout on the back for the camera lens.
The Impact Snap has been fitted to my phone for a few weeks now and while I wouldn't say it still looks flawless – there are some slight marks on the polycarbonate back – it has held up well, especially given I store it in a handbag that is usually packed with other items.
As for the Impactology? I will confess that I'm not about to drop my own phone from a great height purely to test it out – iPhones don't come cheap, after all – but the case feels strong and I find it a reassuring extra layer of protection.
