Tried and Tested: Nuu Key Case

10 Aug 2012 by Jenny Southan

This new iPad 2 case looks smart and is made from synthetic black leather contrasted with white stitches. But it is no ordinary case, as it also includes a separate QWERTY keyboard and comes with a stylus. The iPad fits snuggly into a leather frame inside and is held securely on the three outside edges with the interior edge having a flap that tucks under the iPad to keep it in place thanks to a strip of Velcro.

The Nuu Key Case can be used in three ways – as a book, as a presenter with the keyboard in front or simply as a protective frame. This is useful as the whole case is roughly the thickness of a small paperback book. The rechargeable (via micro-USB connector) keyboard is very quick to pair with the iPad via Bluetooth and took me less than a minute to set up. Nuu claims that the keyboard can be used for up to 90 hours before running out of power.

The keyboard is held gently in place by magnetic force, which means it can easily be removed should you want to. This is good when you want to give a presentation or when typing quickly and want to do so independently of the screen/case. The keyboard has a baize backing so when you use remotely it sits nicely on a desk. The keyboard is charged via a USB cable from your computer.

PROS A superb combined keyboard and case that is great for when travelling for a day and don’t want to take your laptop.

CONS A bit big for everyday use.
