Cabin Max City backpack

26 Sep 2013 by ScottCarey7
Cabin Max specialises in large capacity luggage that can be taken as a carry-on, including trolley bags and backpacks. This large backpack can be taken as hand luggage with most major airlines and has enough capacity for a long weekend, but not a lot else. Due to the two-pocket layout you may struggle to pack a lot of clothes or more than one pair of shoes, but if you only need a couple of outfits it is perfect.   What I found this bag great for is commuting by bike. I could put my whole work outfit, including a suit and shirt within a suit carrier, in the bag thanks to its depth, plus my shoes could go in a separate pocket. There is another handy pocket at the front where small items can be stored, such as my phone, wallet, watch and passport. The bag is predominantly black with orange detail and reflective silver straps, again making it ideal for anyone commuting by bicycle. The inside is orange nylon and there are some organisation pouches within, including a zip up comportment. The bag is very tall, allowing shirts to fit after being folded just once. Consequently, it isn’t too deep, so you don’t look like a turtle with it on. The straps are padded and there is lower-back padding, as well as chest and waist support straps, meaning weight is evenly distributed so that it doesn’t ever feel too heavy or lopsided. The bag can be opened in two ways — one allows it to be opened and laid flat for easier packing, and the other is further forward, giving better access to the front pocket. The divider between the two sections is padded and has a Velcro strap, meaning a laptop can be securely stored. Unfortunately, due to its size and the garish orange detail the bag isn’t the most stylish and doesn’t look rugged enough to take backpacking. This places it as useful for the sort of trip it is named after, a short city break, although I can see why many a business traveller would rather opt for a trolley than a backpack when going away for a weekend. VERDICT A great bag but one which is odd to place in terms of when to use it. For me, it has been a revelation in terms of commuting luggage but I don’t think it will replace my carry-on trolley for short work trips. FACT FILE
