Tried and Tested: Mophie Workbook iPad Case

The Mophie Workbook iPad case is smarter, although a bit more expensive, than many of its competitors. It’s lightweight, fairly thin and made from faux leather with an elastic strap to hold it together. It comes in five colours – cement with a yellow strap, chocolate with a cyan strap, orange with a black strap, white with a grey strap, and what is likely to be the executive favourite, black with a black strap.

The case opens like a book and the iPad can be made to stand in a number of positions, from almost upright to a comfortable typing slant, and the lining of is made from soft material that hooks the Velcro down to allow the iPad to be held in place.

The iPad also sits behind a faux leather frame attached to the outside of the case on three sides by elastic and on the fourth side there is a Velcro tab. The elastic and frame is positioned so that all buttons and ports are accessible.

I liked the case – smart, light and with protection to the iPad from the front and back. There is even a small flap on the inside cover that I found useful for storing a few papers. The only issue I had was the Velcro tab holding the iPad in place came away from the frame after a short while. This problem might have been a one-off but the one-year warranty will certainly be used.

PROS Stylish and functional
CONS Not as hardwearing as expected, pricey
