The 669-room Yotel New York is set to open close to Times Square in June, and will feature cabins starting from 16sqm, a gym, bar, restaurant and "New York's largest outdoor terrace".

Business Traveller reported on the latest Yotel property back in March 2010, and the group has now launched a new website, Facebook page, Twitter feed and You Tube channel ahead of the opening.

Yotel is taking bookings from June 7 onwards, with introductory rates as low as US$149 (plus taxes and fees), including continental breakfast and free wifi. When Business Traveller checked the website today, there was availability at this rate on selected dates in June, July and August.

Yotel New York will be the group's fourth property, and the first city centre location joining hotels at London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports, and Amsterdam's Schiphol.

Unsurprisingly the location has meant some adaptation of the Yotel offering, with larger cabins starting from around 16sqm (compared to 7sqm for a standard cabin at the brand's Gatwick property), and more hotel features including two bars, a restaurant, gym, events and meeting space and what Yotel is billing as "New York's largest outdoor terrace".

There is also a larger choice of rooms, including First Cabins, some of which feature an outdoor terrace and hot tub.

The hotel is located two blocks west of Times Square, at 42nd Street and 10th Avenue, and is part of a 60-storey, 1.2 million square foot development which will include residential units and the Frank Gehry-designed Signature Theatre.

Update: In an interview with USA Today, Yotel's CEO Gerard Greene said that the group is "about to sign a larger project at Heathrow", and "has three or four other projects in London (in the works)". The full article can be read at:
