Winners and losers in BA Euro routes reshuffle

Next summer will see British Airways changing a number of its business routes, with London City Airport (LCY) gaining at the expense of Gatwick.
From April and May, passengers using LCY will gain new BA services to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Nice and Warsaw.
On the other hand, passengers losing out will be those who now take BA from Gatwick to Aberdeen, Nice, Prague, Reykjavik and Split. All these routes will be dropped at the end of March.
Also suffering will be passengers using BA’s service between LCY and Milan Malpensa, which will also be cancelled, while passengers taking BA’s Warsaw flight from Heathrow will now find the service switched to Gatwick.
BA’s commercial director, Robert Boyle, says: “BA’s CityFlyer operation at London City continues to go from strength to strength. From next summer we will operate to nine destinations in the UK and mainland Europe.”
From LCY, British Airways will be providing competition to both KLM and Belgian airline VLM on the Amsterdam route. In the case of Nice, BA will be competing with Air France, which launched this service last April. Flights to Barcelona and Warsaw are new routes for LCY.
Readers should note that some of these services have yet to be programmed into the airline's website.
