Starwood has announced its first Westin property in Hamburg, the sixth hotel by the upmarket brand in Germany.
The Westin Hamburg Hotel is due to open in 2012, and will form part of the Elbe Philharmonic complex, designed by Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron (responsible for the Tate Modern, The Beijing National Stadium or Bird’s Nest, and the Allianz Arena in Munich).
The development will be located in HafenCity, a regenerated harbourside district described as one of the largest rebuilding projects in Europe in the 21st century. The complex will include the Elbe Philharmonic Hall, as well as luxury residences, and “culinary, cultural and nightlife options”.
The ten-storey hotel will feature 244 rooms including 39 suites, as well as a restaurant, cafe, destination bar, lounge, a spa with indoor swimming pool, and 9,000 square feet of meeting space.
The Westin Hamburg Hotel will join existing properties by the brand in Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Dresden and Leipzig. Starwood is also represented in Hamburg by Le Royal Meridien Hamburg
