The Westcliff hotel in Johannesburg will become the Four Seasons Johannesburg, Business Traveller has learned.
The property was in 2012 sold by Orient–Express to a joint venture partnership between Albwardy Investment, a Dubai-based private investment company, and Hotels Properties Limited, based in Singapore.
At that time, it was announced that the management contract would stay with the Orient-Express group for "up to" 12 months "while the new owner develops its long-term refurbishment plans".
Business Traveller now understands that it will be Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts which is to be appointed as the new operator of the hotel, and that a substantial renovation programme will soon commence.
In a statement the Westcliff would only confirm that the hotel would remain an Orient-Express until June. Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts had no comment.
