Weather update: Heathrow closes T1 and T3 to new passengers

20 Dec 2010 by BusinessTraveller

BAA says that it is currently not accepting passengers at Heathrow Terminals 1 and 3, as they are currently "extremely congested".

The airport operator posted the following message on its website homepage at 1400:

"There are continuing freezing conditions at Heathrow and it is currently snowing. Terminals 1 and 3 are extremely congested and we are unable to accept any more passengers coming to these terminals. We are therefore asking passengers not to travel to Heathrow Terminals 1 and 3 until further notice. We will review this at 16.00."

British Airways has cancelled all short-haul flights at Heathrow for the rest of today, and passengers are advised not to travel to the airport before speaking to their airline.
